About Taking Steps for Cancer

The truth is that cancer affects one in three people in the US. Chances are that you know someone who has been affected by it. The good people of Grand County decided to launch Taking Steps for Cancer to support the county’s resource limited families affected by cancer.

Initially founded in 2012 by concerned community members, Taking Steps for Cancer provides financial assistance for struggling cancer patients and their families in Grand County. Today, with the help of nearly one hundred volunteers, and through fundraisers like The Sagebrush Western Classic Golf Tournament, Taking Steps for Cancer provides financial assistance and screening to more than 50 resource limited Grand County families annually. Taking Steps for Cancer partners with Mountain Family Center, a Grand County family resource center and registered 501(c)3 nonprofit serving the county’s wellness needs since 1979.
